HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN YOUR HOUSE?
EVERYONE'S HOME IS DIFFERENT. YOU NEED TO CONSIDER THE NUMBER OF ADULTS, CHILDREN & PETS LIVING THERE, IDENTIFY THE HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS, AND DETERMINE YOUR FAMILY'S LIFESTYLE - DAILY COOKING OR TAKE OUT? MAXIMALIST OR MINIMALIST DECOR?, LOVE TO ENTERTAIN? ETC.
Kitchen
The kitchen requires a light daily cleaning (floors, dirty dishes, countertops, food spillages, and removing garbage), and a good clean every 2 weeks depending on the level of activity. Refrigerator, oven interior, and hood every 4–6 weeks depending on use.
Floors
Floors endure wear & tear, especially in high-traffic areas. They are walked on constantly, and catch all the spills, dust, dirt, and debris. Vacuuming/Sweeping & Mopping should be done at least once per week, except for the Kitchen & Entrance floors that usually see the highest traffic and require a more frequent light clean. Increase the cleaning frequency if you have pets!
Bathroom Vanities*
Sinks & faucets in daily use should be light cleaned at least every other day. Why? They are used several times per day for hand-washing & tooth-brushing. We recommend a good clean every 1–2 weeks together with mirrors, light fixtures, cabinets & countertops.
Toilets*
Toilets can get gross easily! Human waste & hard water (even if the toilet is not in-use) stain the toilets and make them harder to keep clean. We recommend a light clean every 2 days if in daily use, and a good clean at least once per week. And don’t forget to remove the garbage bag as soon as it fills up, or at a minimum once per week to prevent mold, bacteria and odors to develop.
SHOWERS*
They can easily become the breeding ground for bacteria & mold. After every shower, rinse walls & doors, and squeegee glass & tile, this prevents soap scum and hard-water buildup before it starts. Once a week, clean walls, floor, fixtures, and drain, focus on soap scum, body oils, and mildew. Every two weeks (deep clean), scrub grout & corners, descale shower heads & fixtures, and check caulking for mold.
BEDROOMS
“Active” bedrooms should be cleaned once per week but clearing the clutter should be done daily — laundry (dirty & clean), shoes, dishes, toys, cosmetics, etc. Sheets should be changed weekly or at least once every other week.
Living Spaces
A living room or family room often serves as a central hub in a home, where relaxation, family bonding, and entertainment take center stage. Considering the bustling activity that unfolds in your living space, we recommend a good clean every 1–2 weeks depending on the level of activity & the presence of furry pets.
Eating Areas
Usually, they see less daily traffic than kitchen & bathrooms, but they also need to be kept tidy. Dusting surfaces, vacuuming carpets & floors, and decluttering are necessary to prevent build-up. We recommend cleaning them every 1–2 weeks depending on the level of activity.
Dusting
Dusting furniture & knick-knacks, handrails & spindles, door handles & knobs, decorative mirrors, light fixtures, ceiling fans, walls, baseboards, trimmings, moldings, ledges, vents, doors, sliding glass doors, gym equipment, upholstered furniture, and removing cobwebs should be done every 2 weeks depending on the level of activity & the season.
*Bathrooms (including toilet, shower, tub, and vanity areas) require good ventilation. Fresh air moving around the spaces makes a big difference in how it smells, and the growth of mold & mildew. Learn More About Mildew & How You Can Get Rid of It in Our FAQ Page.

#2 FLOORS
Vacuuming carpets, scrubbing & mopping floors, moving furniture and dealing with stubborn messes from kids & pets.
